History 

1979

Industrial coil and air cooler manufacturer Aero Heat Exchanger is founded by David Auyoung and James Tansley, combining David’s background as a linear freezer engineering manager and James’ manufacturing know-how. As market demands for vegetable and fruit Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) tunnel freezers grow, Aero Heat Exchanger evolves into a global IQF tunnel freezer manufacturer.

 

1982

Systems Technology is founded in Auckland, New Zealand, to provide a quality automated carton freezing system for the meat packing industry meeting the high standards of preservation mandated by the New Zealand government.

 

1989

Eurotek Engineering Ltd is founded by Roger Smith based on more than 15 years in the freezing industry to serve untapped markets.

 

1990

Systems Technology adopts the name Intec and introduces their freezing technology to the United States.

 

1990s

Aero Heat Exchanger ranks as one of the world’s largest IQF tunnel freezer manufacturers, supplying to major vegetable and fruit, French fry and protein food processors.

Eurotek grows with the substantial sales of IQF freezers to a major French fry producer and spiral freezers to a major U.K. seafood producer, adding sales, engineering and service personnel. The company also starts exporting and opens sales offices in France and Portugal.

Intec expands by introducing their technology to the ice cream, dairy, poultry and red meat industries and enters into many strategic alliances with complementary businesses.

 

1997

Intec consolidates their operations, sets up headquarters in Morrisville, North Carolina, United States maintains engineering offices in Auckland, New Zealand, and restructures from a single owner to a partnership.

 

1998

Aero Heat Exchanger rebrands as Aerofreeze Systems and starts manufacturing spiral freezers. With easy-to-clean and robust design, the spiral freezers are readily accepted in the hygienically strict market.

Eurotek opens sales offices in France and Portugal, and representative offices in Iceland, South Africa, Thailand, Australia, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Germany and other countries.

 

2005

Intec moves their headquarters to the acclaimed Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina, United States.

 

2007

Aerofreeze joins GEA Refrigeration Technologies. Backed by the GEA’s global industrial processing networks, Aerofreeze establishes Aerofreeze Europe in France to serve the European market.

 

2009

Eurotek and Intec join GEA Refrigeration Technologies with Aerofreeze. Today, GEA Freezing is Aerofreeze, Eurotek and Intec—together providing a complementary freezer and chiller line, and global access to innovative service and technology.
